Indications/Uses
Various types of colds in childn 6-11 yr. Decongests mucosa of nose & throat; helps prevent nasal mucosa from drying out.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 6-11 yr 1-2 drops in each nostril once daily or bd. Do not use for >7 consecutive days. Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril. Last application of the day should preferably be shortly before going to bed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Surgery involving the head; very dry or chronically inflamed nasal mucosa (rhinitis sicca or rhinitis atrophicans); acute (closed-angle) glaucoma.
Special Precautions
Do not exceed recommended dose. Can lead to sleep & vision problems or episodes of dizziness. Use w/ care in case of HTN, CV diseases, thyroid hyperactivity, enlarged prostate, phaeochromocytoma or DM. Do not use if patient is currently taking a MAOI, or has taken MAOI w/in the last 14 days. Do not use if taking certain anti-depressants (TCAs or tetracyclic antidepressants). Risk of rhinitis medicamentosa if used for >1 wk. Should not be used during pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nasal dryness & irritation, nausea, headache, local burning sensation.
